Increase of the Minimum Wage

The MIW for 2026 is set at 1, 221 euros per month (in 14 payments), 17, 094 euros per year, and 40. 70 euros per day.

The update of the MIW does not alter either the structure or the amount of the salaries that workers were already receiving when, as a whole and on an annual basis , they are higher than said MIW. These earnings can be offset by the income that workers were receiving for all concepts on an annual basis and full-time with legal or conventional rules, awards, and employment contracts in force on the effective date of this Royal Decree. Only professional salaries below the total annual amount indicated must be increased to match this.

This change comes into effect on February 20, 2026, and takes effect from January 1, 2026, so companies must proceed accordingly to pay the new MIW with retroactive effects from January 1, 2026.
